LoopCycle

Having been a closet composer back in the 80’s and early 90’s and an audio engineer at the beginning of my professional career, my mind has often drifted back from technical and operational to music. In 2002, amid the manic growth of a web content management start-up, the idea popped in my head to register the domain loopcycle.com.

Somewhere I saved the napkin from Miso which was the location of this inspired (yet short-lived) innovation, it sketched out a web-based, open source-like community where thousands of musical audio samples and loops would be stored and accessible. Anything could be taken so long as the result in whole or in part was returned to the community. An early predicessor to WebAmoeba in some ways, the venture was designed to explore the organic sonic possibilities of music.

Some time between then and now I ran out of money and the domain name lapsed, perhaps the current owner has a similar vision. Either that, or it will become the destination for washing machine enthusiasts - time will tell.
